Digital Fabrication: Women of Design

Students needed to design a piece of jewelry, its box, and an AR presentation inspired by women in design, emphasizing their own creative ideas and exploring materials and digital tools.

Digital Fabrication: 30 Years of the Slovak and Czech Republics

The task of the students was to design a wearable artefact (such as jewellery), its packaging, and an augmented reality presentation about the design, all while focusing on authorial design and drawing inspiration from the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the formation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This involved material experimentation, the fusion of digital and physical design, thorough design research considering historical and cultural contexts, conceptualization and sketching, and ultimately presenting their completed work.

Šárka Portešová

This project, created for a digital design course, aims to commemorate the peaceful split of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on January 1, 1993, by engaging people with the history of their shared existence through an interactive jewelry-making kit that metaphorically represents different historical phases.

Martin Bertko: Halfway There

This semester-long Digital Design project resulted in a commemorative bracelet, specialized packaging, and an augmented reality experience to mark the 30th anniversary of Czechoslovakia’s peaceful division, using the meeting of Klaus and Mečiar in Villa Tugendhat as inspiration for the bracelet’s design (two magnetic parts symbolizing unity and separation), the packaging’s train line map abstraction representing the halfway point to democracy for both nations, and an AR retelling of the historical event.

Interactive Kiosk

Design students are tasked with creating interactive kiosk screens placed in a prominent city park. The kiosk’s purpose is to inform visitors about Latin American artists and their works. Students are responsible for designing both the interactive interface and curating the content to showcase artists’ backgrounds and contributions. The goal is to provide an engaging, educational experience for park visitors interested in exploring the world of Latin American artistry.

Autonomous Car Dashboard

Students were given a project where they had to design the dashboard and front console for a Level-4 autonomous electric family concept car developed by Škoda Auto, a part of the Volkswagen Group. The car utilized Argo AI technology for automated city driving. The challenge involved creating a dashboard that went beyond the traditional, incorporating navigation, travel guides, and maps. The unique aspect was the use of a curved or flexible display instead of a square one. Students were directed to refer to a provided link for more information on such vehicles.
